I am a wildlife rehabber in oklahoma.. I love helping injured/orphaned wildlife. I also own a domestic 3 year old raccoon. I resuced a coatimundi.. He is 8 months old.. he was someones pet they did not want anymore.. I have taken in over a dozen raccoons no longer wanted by their owners and released them.. after having to stay here and "wild up" for over 6 months
vets are not allowed to actually charge you for a wild animal you bring in.
I know the original post is old.. so this... to the vet.. or they may.. but get a reasonable discount.. some rehabbers can even fix the break. Just depends....
I am an animal groomer... If the owner is an elderly person.. then I do go to their house... or some of them just want... pick up their dog/cat and then bring them back when i am done.. which isnt a big deal at all. I enjoy helping them.
Ive had several raccoons get up a tree and not be able to get back down.. luckily it was not a 150... a tree and not be able to get back down.. luckily it was not a 150 foot tree..
If its not hurt.. its not going to eat in captivity..
If its injured.. your going to have to hand... of the throat.. avoid the tiny hole.. thats the hole that he breathes from.. dont want no food or water in that hole....
im not sure you can buy those for a pet.. ive seen pics of them.. kinda... not sure you can buy those for a pet.. ive seen pics of them.. kinda cute....
squirrels rarely make good pets... they love to chew.. and they have to chew to keep their teeth worn down. Squirrels... fall from the nest... and they would make a better pet.. check w/ your state laws.. and your local wildlife rehaber....
